The Rams once again took advantage of having the first at bat in a ball game and put up 2 runs in the top of the first inning, which proved more than enough on the evening. Anthony Schneider led off with a double and was advanced to third on a sacrifice by Cody Hyler. Nick Arnold then drove Schneider in with a single and was pinch ran for by Cam Cressley. Cressley was advanced to second on a fielder's choice and reached third on a wild pitch. Corey Gehling then delivered a run scoring single to put the Rams up 2-0 after the first half inning.
SEP got another solid pitching performance, as TJ Fetters shut out the Trojans from Iowa City. Fetters went the distance for the Rams giving up just 4 hits, no runs and had 6 strikeouts.
The Rams gave up 2 runs, only 1 earned run, during the State Tournament including two shut out victories. Coming in as the #6 seed, the Rams defeated #3 seed Cedar Rapids Kennedy, #2 seed Dubuque Hempstead and #4 seed Iowa City West in the Championship game. SEP used only 3 pitchers during the State Tournament with Nick Arnold, Garret Grove, and TJ Fetters all pitching complete games.
