In dramatic fashion, the Southeast Polk Rams clinched a birth in the State Tournament with a 5-4 win over Marshalltown Wednesday night.
The Rams held a 4-1 lead going to the top of the 7th inning but Marshalltown had no quit in them and battled to put 3 runs on the board to tie the score and send the game to extra innings.
SEP came through in the bottom of the 9th, to become Class 4A Substate #2 Champs and punch their ticket for the State Tournament. With two runners on base, Corey Gehling delivered a key hit down the first base line that scored Anthony Schneider and the winning run.
The Rams will play in the First Round of the State Tournament on Wednesday July 30 at 8 pm versus Cedar Rapids Kennedy.
